The Art of Design - a Course for Homeschoolers
About This Class
In this 12-week course created specifically for teen homeschoolers, students will not only learn how to develop their creative skills to create an art series or design an artfully inspired product or pattern collection, they’ll also learn the basics of branding, marketing and selling their work.
Students will learn where to begin when creating an art series or a pattern collection, how to gather inspiration and build a mood board, how to sketch in pattern blocks and build pattern elements, and finally, how they can apply their art and designs to products and real life. The process and design principles they will learn can be applied in a multitude of ways: from creating an art series, designing a textile collection or a product line to interior decorating and wardrobe styling.
At the end of each class, we will also take time to get familiar with inspiring contemporary and modern artists who are busting through the myth of the starving artist.

About the Instructor:
Hi, my name is Ashley (but my friends call me Ash.) In addition to being a homeschooling mom for many years, I’m also a mixed media artist with an influential background in Interior Design.
My work has been featured on Dot & Bo, has been licensed by Tree-Free Greetings, has been shown in galleries as far away as Vieques, Puerto Rico, Gallery Galleon and as nearby as Wesley Gallery in Dripping Springs, Texas.
I created this course specifically for older homeschoolers who enjoy exercising their creativity and who might want to explore a career or even a side business that can allow them to exercise and develop their creative brain.
